We stumbled upon the Village Whiskey around 19 pm on a Friday night and were seated immediately, even though we had told the hostess that we'd probably just be drinking. The service was phenomenal though and we ended up ordering fried pickles with our drinks (which were the Commodore and Rose Gold). Both drinks were amazing, as were the pickles, and we'd come back for any of them in a heartbeat.

Best of all though, we didn't feel rushed and so, even when it got quite crowded around 11, we still got great service.

Came here on a Friday night around 8pm and only had a 10 min wait. We ordered the pickled cauliflower which wasn't too sour and slightly sweet. We enjoyed this dish. It came with sourdough bread, a cheese spread, and olive spread; all were delicious.
I ordered the short rib cheese fries as my meal. The portion was huge and I could barely finish half of it. Pretty good fries though! It can be a bit soggy for some people due to the cheese and short ribs, but flavor-wise it went well together. Some parts of the fries were a bit too salty.
The burger of the month was the Frenchman burger. It was a good burger, but I think their patty melt is much tastier which wasn't on the menu this time.
The tater tots had a good seasoning, but was over cooked. Some of them were crispy like chips.

This is probably my fourth or fifth trip here in two years. I always hate to see poor reviews for bad service because if the food is good who cares, right? I came here with a friend Saturday, it was busy like it should be during a prime time slot. We were seated in a reasonable amount of time, about 35 minutes.

I always get the same thing. Smash Burger, add a patty to make it 9oz, with bacon. The server already wants to tell me no, and tries to sway me towards the traditional 8oz option. So now she has to go ask the kitchen if it's okay, mind you I've gotten this before. The whole time she's looking at my guest like I'm crazy. So she comes back and says the kitchen is going to charge me for a full other single smash burger, mind you in the past it's been an open food charge of $4 for the extra 3 oz patty. At this point you might as well make me a whole other hamburger. But I oblige, because it's so complicated to throw on an extra patty. My guest ordered a smash as well. What is so difficult about adding an extra patty? You're already making 4, why do you want to tell me no so badly? You're in the service industry, accommodate the guest. It's not like i'm asking for some outlandish request that hasn't been done before.

So the food drops, they forgot her bacon as well as the table next to us. And if you order bacon you definitely want your bacon. Right? Only problem is, our server didn't check the table the whole night but one time after about 10 minutes where I asked for more water and she never came back. I'm sure if I had ordered a few drinks the story would be different, but let's neglect the table who's check average isn't high enough for our liking rather than creating an exceptional experience and having them be so impressed they order dessert. Total service failure on their part thru and thru. Yeah the food was good despite being overcharged, the customer service here continues to get worse with time. Pro tip, if you're walking with your water pitcher... Hit all the tables while you're making the rounds, it's much easier than being asked numerous times.

You know what's good? This place. You want to eat outside on a cozy sidewalk on Sansom street? You got it! You want to dine inside in an intimate well-lit (with natural light) space? You got it. Want to cozy up to a sweet bar while you sit on chairs with backs? You got that here too. Drinks that are delicious, food that is well prepared and yes. The burger is as delicious as they say but so are the fried cheese curds. Try 'em. You won't be sorry. The fries, the cob salad, the cocktail called, "The Spice Jam"? I can vouch for all of them. Thanks for this place, Philadelphia.

What a great happy hour! I had a really nice time. We showed up around 5-530 and it was pretty quiet and empty. Then as we sat a little longer the life really picked up. The cocktails were expertly crafted. The bartender knew so much about his liquor and available mixes. I ordered a penicillin. The happy hour food was really good too. Definitely worth getting the fried shrimp.
